Yoga for You is a community based yoga centre that offers classes in yoga and meditation for groups and individuals.

We also organise Kirtan evenings (singing of mantras) on a monthly basis; a beautiful yoga practice for opening the heart.

Meditation is an intrinsic part of yoga practice. In a general yoga class we begin with the practice of asanas (postures) followed by pranayama (breathing practices) and deep relaxation or meditation. In this way the practitioner is gradually lead from gross to more subtle levels of experience. This is a particularly helpful approach for beginners who find it difficult to calm body and mind enough to sit still or who are unable to be comfortable in any of the sitting positions. The practices are designed to release tension, tone and strengthen body and mind and foster a state of relaxed awareness. This serves as an ideal preparation for further meditation practices.

The practices are based on the teachings of Paramahansa Satyananda and offer a systematic approach to all aspects of yoga; acknowledging the importance of addressing not only the physical but also the mental, emotional and spiritual well being.
Satyananda trained teachers are experienced in many meditation practices and branches of yoga in order to be able to serve individuals’ different inclinations and needs.

Regular activities:

  • Weekly yoga and meditation classes
  • Monthly Kirtan evenings (second Friday of each month, 7.30pm)
  • Private sessions (one to one or in small groups)

Class information:
I am running introduction sessions to next terms yoga classes (starting 17th July)
I run the classes as a 10 week course leading people systematically into the various practices.

A general class (75min or 90min) includes:

  • 50-60min asana practice (postures and other physical exercises).
  • 10-15min pranayama (breath awareness and breathing techniques)
  • 10-15 guided deep relaxation or meditation practices.

 

Introduction session for
*Remedial yoga: Thurs 29th June 5.30-6.45pm
Beginners: Thurs 29th June 7-8.30pm
Progressive: Sat 1st July 10-11.30am

*for those who need recuberation from illness or accident or with low energy levels. focus is on joint release, breath work and deep relaxation
